CPR First Aid Training

CPR First Aid Program

Two courses are offered through the Continuing Education CPR First Aid program:

  1. The American Hearth Association HeartCode BLS (CPR)
  2. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons First Aid

The HeartCode BLS course is intended for healthcare providers and covers CPR skills, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of foreign body airway obstruction. The First Aid course is for anyone interested or required to take first aid.

Both courses are open to the public.

Conditions of Enrollment and Course Credit (prior to the class)

Each student must successfully complete “HeartCode® BLS AHA Product Number15-1400” training for CPR certification. This training is found on the American Heart Association website. The cost is $28.50 and the online textbook is also included with this program.

More specifically, follow these steps to get to the correct class:

  1. Visit the American Heart Association ShopCPR site
  2. Click “Add to Cart”
  3. Follow instructions for registration

Note: The exact steps for enrolling in this class are subject to change at the discretion of the American Heart Association and are not in our control. Please make sure you start this process early in the event the process is different from the steps provided above.

After successfully completing this course, you must print your certificate and bring it with you to class on Friday. Make sure you are taking the correct course, as there are several different options available on the website. Failure to complete the correct course will result in not meeting the course requirements and no CPR certification will be earned.

Do not wait until the last minute to complete this; it does take several hours to complete. Certificates must be dated within two weeks prior to your class.
